The newly confirmed Chief Executive of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has called for professionalism and teamwork among staff in the discharge of their duties to lift the shackles of the organisation and restore its lost glory.

Hon Elizabeth Sackey made the call on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at her maiden meeting with staff of the Assembly to formally introduce herself to them, outline her vision and foster a closer working relationship

"We want to start on a new page, I know you have a lot of bitterness in you, issues and misdeeds but I am here to assure you that if we all work together we would be able to turn things around. It depends on what we can collectively do as staff to turn the fortunes of the Assembly. We need to work hard to yield the results we want... Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, and not for any man, our performance will bring the results we are yearning for," she said. 

She affirmed her commitment to helping the organisation move away from its current predicament and urged staff to come together and play their roles honestly adding that one head does not go into council. 

"One head does not go into council and so let's all play our honest parts, let's come together to help the city develop...Let us all be concerned about AMA since that's all we have," she said.

She also promised to institute an award scheme to recognise exceptionally hardworking staff and to motivate others to give their best. 

Hon Elizabeth Sackey also pledged not to create avenues to encourage stealing and misappropriation of funds.
