16.Jul.2024

In a bid to ensure lasting cleanliness in Accra, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II has called for sustained efforts beyond the immediate post-Homowo festivities.

The Ga Mantse made the call on Saturday when he embarked on an inspection tour accompanied by senior officers of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC) and Asafoatsemei of the Ga State, to Rawlings Park, CMB, Makola, and Tudu, to assess the progress of the one-month Homowo clean-up initiative in Accra.

He emphasised the importance of continuous sanitation initiatives to maintain the city's cleanliness.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II praised the efforts of ZoomLion and other stakeholders, urging that the work not be seen as a one-time activity but as an ongoing commitment.

“It shouldn’t be a one-day work but should continue every day after the Homowo festival so that sanitation and cleanliness will be sustained,” he remarked.

He emphasized the importance of cleanliness, saying, "Keeping our environment clean brings strength." He also encouraged unity among the Ga people and the entire nation, particularly in the lead-up to the December 2024 general elections.

He appealed for peace and cautioned against any acts of violence, urging citizens to take care of themselves to ensure a smooth electoral process.
