The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has bid farewell to its District Audit Officer, who is retiring after 33 years of dedicated service. 

Speaking at a send-off ceremony organised by the Audit Service held at the AMA's premises, to celebrate her remarkable contributions, the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Elizabeth Kwatsoe Sackey commended the retiring officer for her exceptional contributions to the Assembly.

She emphasised the importance of commitment and passion in public service, noting that everyone should do their work wholeheartedly.

She encouraged staff to remember that their efforts were not in vain, as they were ultimately working for the Lord, who would reward them.

In her farewell speech, Mrs Archer reflected on her 33-year journey with the Audit Service, expressing gratitude to God for His protection throughout her career.

She highlighted her time as the District Head for Greater Accra/AMA, a position she was appointed to in 2021, and noted that with the support, hard work, dedication, and teamwork of her staff, the district achieved notable successes, including being rated the best-performing district in 2023.

"Together we achieved remarkable milestones with your skills, expertise, and positive attributes," she said. 

Mrs Archer also shared the emotional aspect of her retirement, stating that while she feels sad to leave behind a team she had grown to love, she was excited about the new chapter ahead and expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her colleagues.

 Mrs Archer acknowledged that there were difficult times but emphasised that God guided her through them.

"I see those challenges as successes that have shaped me into what I am today and a testimony to encourage others," she said.

She also took the opportunity to thank her family and church, who were present at the event, for their unwavering support throughout her career.

"Any time I ran to them with tears in my eyes, they embraced me, gave me wise counsel, and corrected me when necessary," Mrs Archer said, adding that their prayers and encouragement were invaluable to her success.

Expressing her appreciation to her clients, Mrs. Archer acknowledged that the GAR/AMA District would not have thrived without their cooperation and assistance. 

Advising those still in service, Mrs. Archer urged them to maintain a kind heart towards their colleagues and to focus on teamwork, excellence, diligence, and commitment. 

"Show respect, consideration, courtesy, and kindness towards colleagues, clients, and stakeholders, and give your colleagues the opportunities and support to bring out the best in them. That way, you will obtain God's favour," she advised.

She quoted Philippians 4:8:  which states, "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."  and expressed her gratitude to everyone who had been part of her journey and wished them well in their future endeavours.

Representatives of various MMDAs and the Greater Accra Regional Auditor were also present at the ceremony to celebrate Mrs. Archer's outstanding contributions to public service.
