The Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey has inspected ongoing road construction works on Ayawa Street, formerly known as Oquaye Street, in the Bubui Electoral Area to ascertain the progress of work.
The project, being executed by Hydronomics Limited, covers a 700-metre stretch of road.
Speaking after the inspection, the Mayor expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work so far stressing that the project was crucial in improving accessibility in the community and expressed confidence that it would be completed on schedule.
“I am impressed with the progress made so far and hopeful that the project will be completed within the stipulated timeframe to bring relief to residents,” Hon. Allotey stated.
The Mayor reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to monitoring and supervising ongoing projects across the metropolis to ensure timely delivery and value for money.
Accompanied by the AMA Coordinating Director, Mr. Douglas N.K Annoful, the area’s Assembly Member, and other officials, the Mayor engaged residents and announced a 24-hour street market to stimulate local commerce.
According to the Project Engineer of Hydrodynamics, Engineer Mohammed, the project, which covers a carriageway length of about 700 metres with a width ranging between 12 and 13 metres, was expected to be completed ahead of 31 October 2025.
He reported that construction had already been executed on one section, with approximately 400 metres substantially completed, adding that the team was at the second-layer stage and expected to finish that portion by the end of the week.
