Vital Strategies, a global health organisation has donated handwashing facilities to the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) for onward distribution to small scale businesses in the metropolis.
Receiving the items at a short ceremony held at the forecourt of the AMA on Tuesday, 29th December 2020, Mr Benjamin Armah, Coordinating Director of the AMA expressed his appreciation for the support and assured that the items would be used for the intended purpose.
He said the facilities would help complement efforts by the assembly towards the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the metropolis.
He reiterated that the AMA as part of measures to prevent the spread of the virus in the City had supplied handwashing facilities to all markets in the city, distributed reusable face masks as well as embarking on an extensive public education.
He urged all citizens as well as city dwellers to observe all the safety protocols by frequently washing their hands under running water, sanitising, as well as wearing nose masks in public among others.
Mr Oxygen Wullar, field epidemiologist of the Metro Health Directorate of the Assembly during the presentation noted that the items would be distributed to markets, public places among others to help avert COVID-19 in the City.
