The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has opened applications to recruit 200 commission-based revenue collectors as part of measures to strengthen revenue mobilisation and improve the Assembly’s capacity to fund critical city services.
The recruitment formed part of a broader institutional effort to tighten accountability in local revenue collection while expanding the human resource base required to improve compliance across the metropolis.
Head of Public Affairs at the AMA, Mr. Gilbert Nii Ankrah who disclosed this, explained that applicants would be required to meet a bonding condition involving two guarantors, noting that one guarantor must be a salaried worker, while the second must be a well-known opinion leader.
According to the PRO, the guarantor requirement was intended to ensure credibility and traceability and promote responsible conduct among collectors who would be engaged on a commission basis.
“The Assembly is committed to strengthening revenue mobilisation in a transparent and accountable manner, and that is why applicants must be bonded with two guarantors, one a salaried worker and another a respected opinion leader,” the PRO said.
He stressed that interested applicants must report to the AMA 24-hour economy office to complete the official application forms, adding that the office remained the only designated point for the application process.
“The public is advised to visit the AMA 24-hour economy office to complete the application forms. Applicants should also ensure they satisfy the guarantor requirement before submitting their forms,” he added.
Mr. Ankrah used the opportunity to outline the Mayor’s broad direction for the year, saying the recruitment aligned with the Mayor of Accra’s 2026 vision of building a cleaner, safer and more efficient city, backed by improved service delivery and stronger local governance systems.
He said the Mayor’s vision for 2026 placed emphasis on sanitation improvement, public order and disciplined city management, and the mobilisation of adequate local revenue to support essential metropolitan services.
“The Mayor’s vision for 2026 is a city that works for cleaner communities, improved sanitation outcomes, better public service delivery, and stronger compliance with city regulations. Improving local revenue performance is part of the foundation for that vision,” the PRO stated.
He urged prospective applicants to use only official AMA channels for information and cautioned the public to be alert to misinformation, stressing that the Assembly would provide further updates on the recruitment process through official notices.
