The Finance and Administration Sub-Committee of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has embarked on a working visit to Sub-Metropolitan District Council offices under its jurisdiction.
The committee which is chaired by Hon. Emmanuel Clottey last week Friday visited the Ablekuma South and OkaiKwei South Sub-Metropolitan District Councils to ascertain their working conditions, working environment and challenges affecting their efficiency.
Addressing a cross-section of staff at the Okaikwei South Sub-Metro, Mr Clottey admonished them to be responsive to the needs of city dwellers echoing the need for the exhibition of a high level of professionalism in their day to day engagement with the public.
He assured them of the committee's commitment to ensure an improvement in their working environment targeted at optimizing their efficiency.
"We’re here to have first-hand information on your working conditions, working environment that may be affecting your efficiency and also if there are any challenges that you feel like we should take note...so that from here we will be able to make those recommendations to improve your efficiency as a sub-metro," he averred.
Sub-Metro Director for Okaikwei South, Mr Samuel Tetteh Mormor, emphasised the need for staff to adhere to the established channels of communication accepted in the Local Government Service.
Heads and representatives of the works, security, NADMO and finance departments among others at the sub metro took turns to brief the committee on their operations, challenges and made some recommendations.
The committee later visited Ablekuma South Sub-Metro where a similar exercise took place.
The committee is expected to visit Ashiedu Keteke Sub-Metro, Waste Management Department and the Old AMA Head Office among others.
