Some members of the diplomatic community in Accra have signed a book of condolence opened in honour of the late mother of the Mayor of Accra, Deaconess Mrs. Dora Naa Ahiney Amarteifio Quartey.
The diplomats signed the book of condolence when they called on the Mayor of Accra to offer their heartfelt condolences, following the passing of her mother.
They are the ambassadors of Italy, Turkey, Rwanda, India and Ethiopia.
Daniela d’Orlandi, the Ambassador of Italy to Ghana and Togo, expressed her deepest condolences on behalf of the Italian Embassy.
“On behalf of the Embassy of Italy, I wish to present my deepest condolences and sympathy to the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Elizabeth Sackey, and her family, over the sad demise of her mother, Deaconess Mrs. Dora Naa Ahiney Amarteifio Quartey. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” she wrote, highlighting the embassy’s solidarity with the Mayor and her family during this difficult time.
Ghana’s Ambassador to Turkey, Salma Frances Mancell-Egala, reflected on the spiritual legacy left by Mrs. Quartey.
“God has given and he has taken away. To God be the glory for lending us a Christian woman, putting the fear of God foremost in the heart of our first female Mayor of Accra, and blessing all of us through his mercy and grace. Amen,” she noted, emphasising the profound influence of Mrs. Quartey’s faith on her daughter and the broader community.
Ambassador Teferi of Ethiopia, on her part, offered his condolences, underscoring the shared grief and prayers from the Ethiopian community.
“So sorry, condolences to your beloved mommy. May God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be with your Excellency and your family. I am with you in this difficult time in my spirit and prayers. May her soul rest in peace,” he conveyed, ensuring the Mayor of his spiritual support.
The Mayor of Accra expressed her profound gratitude for the support and condolences received from the diplomatic community and beyond.

For the funeral arrangements, there will be no wake-keeping. Filing past will take place on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the forecourt of the State House, Accra, starting at 7:00 AM.
