The Okaikoi Sub-Metropolitan District Council of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has presented cash donations to some of its staff who suffered road crash injuries in the line of duty and were battling stroke and assured them of the Assembly’s support as they undergo treatment.

The gesture, led by the Sub-Metro Director, Mad. Mercy Odoi forms part of the AMA's efforts to show concern for the welfare of its workers and to stand by them in their time of need.

Speaking during the visit, the Director said the Assembly had a responsibility to support staff who had encountered health challenges in the course of their duties, adding the donation was to support their medication and other immediate health needs.

She explained that the visit was intended not only to provide financial assistance but also to encourage the beneficiaries and assure them that they had not been abandoned.

According to her, the affected staff had contributed significantly to the work of the Assembly and deserved compassion and recognition, as well as support in difficult moments, stressing that the Assembly stood with them in their current condition, just as they had committed themselves to serving the community with dedication.

The Director was hopeful that the cash donation, though modest, would help ease the burden of purchasing medication and provide some relief to the workers and their families.

She also encouraged the beneficiaries to remain hopeful and focused on recovery, stressing that their well-being remained important to the Assembly.

The beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture and described the visit as timely and reassuring.

According to them, the support would go a long way to assist with medication, while others noted that the visit had lifted their spirits and reminded them that their sacrifices had not gone unnoticed.
