The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah on Thursday registered for his new voter identification card.
The Mayor of Accra went through the registration process at the Divine Healers Church Goshen Assembly registration centre at Abeka in the Okaikwei Central Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.
Before the commencement of the procedure, a nurse at the centre took his temperature after which he sanitized his hands.
Mayor Sowah soon after his registration commended officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) at the centre for adhering to the COVID-19 protocols especially with the wearing of nose masks and the social distancing protocols describing the process as smooth and orderly.
"The process was very smooth and orderly, I used my passport as evidence of my nationality and there were no hitches, " he said and urged Ghanaians who are yet to take part in the exercise to visit their respective polling stations and register to have their names captured in the new voters' register.
The registration exercise which began on Tuesday 30th July 2020 is expected to end on the 6th August 2020.
