The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah, on Friday inspected ongoing rehabilitation works at the 31st December Makola Market in Accra.
The rehabilitation works which covers an area of 585 square meters is expected to accommodate about 180 traders.
Addressing some traders in the market, Mr Sowah announced plans by the Assembly to extend development to other parts of the market adding that reconstruction of other sheds would begin in January.
He was hopeful that the reconstruction when completed would help improve current conditions in the market and provide a better trading environment to boost business in the city.
The MCE also visited traders at Okaishie Drug Lane and the Kantamanto Market located in the Central Business District (CBD).
