The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has presented Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and handwashing facilities to four Polyclinics in the metropolis towards the fight against the coronavirus.
The PPEs which include nose masks, hand gloves, goggles, face shields, and infrared thermometers were presented to the Ussher, Kaneshie and Mamprobi Polyclinics as well as the Princess Marie Louise Children's Hospital.
The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah, who presented the items said the gesture forms part of efforts by the assembly to support health facilities in the fight against the COVID -19.
" In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot is being done by various institutions to curb the spread and develop a vaccine. In our own small way, we also trying to mobilize some resources kind courtesy the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to support the fight, " he said.
He noted that the assembly had activated all it's structures to support medical officers engaged in contact tracing and testing in our to mitigate challenges which may arise.
Heads of the various polyclinics who received the items expressed appreciation for the support and promised to give their best in the fight against the pandemic.
