The newly elected President of the National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), Hon. Alfred Asiedu Adjei, has been officially sworn into office.
Hon. Asiedu was sworn in by Senior Lawyer, Ebenezer Adjei Bediako during a ceremony held in Sunyani.
Other national executives sworn into office include Mr Patrick Kwame Frimpong as 1st Vice President, Mr. Daniel Kwaku Mensah as 2nd Vice President, and Mrs Philomena Opoku-Asare as Treasurer. Trustees Mrs. Gertrude Adzo Borklo, Nana Samuel Essel, and Women Caucus Representative Mrs. Helena Mensah also took their oaths of office.
Speaking after his induction, Hon. Adjei expressed gratitude to the delegates for entrusting him and his team with the leadership of NALAG.
He assured members of their dedication to addressing the challenges of local governance and strengthening the association’s presence across districts and regions.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. We are fully aware of the responsibilities ahead and are committed to delivering on the confidence you have placed in us,” he stated.
Hon. Adjei also highlighted plans to review NALAG’s constitution to address loopholes and advocate for policies that enhance local governance efficiency.
He called for unity among members, emphasising the importance of collective effort in achieving NALAG’s vision.
“Our strength lies in our collective effort. Let us remain united and focused as we work towards leaving a lasting legacy for NALAG and the assemblies we represent,” he added.
The President also outlined key reforms his administration intends to pursue, including advocating for extending the tenure of Presiding Members and enhancing accountability within local governance systems.
The newly sworn-in executives pledged to uphold the association’s values and work tirelessly to advance its mission of fostering effective local governance and development across Ghana.
