AMA boss inspects completed  Makola No.2 market sheds

The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah has expressed commitment to provide  permanent and safe places for trading activities in the city. 

According to him, the informal sector is the backbone of the local economy of which markets play an integral part hence the construction and rehabilitation of markets in  Accra. 

Mayor Sowah said this on Wednesday when he inspected work on the completed Makola No.2 market sheds located at Agbogbloshie which got burnt some nine years ago.

"Market women play an integral part in the local economy of the country hence investing in market structures would have a positive impact on the economy," he said. 

He expressed appreciation to the First lady of Republic of Gana, Her Excellency Rebecca Akufo Addo for supporting the project adding  that it would help decongest the markets to ensure social distancing. 

 Organiser of the Makola No.2 Market, Madam Sally Crabbe, thanked the Mayor and his team for their proactiveness in resolving their challenges and ensuring the completion of the market as promised.
