The late veteran actor, Ebenezer Lartey, popularly known as Ataa Mensah of "Showcase in Ga" fame will be buried on the 27th of April, 2019.
This was announced on Monday when the family of the late actor called on the Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah to officially inform him of the demise of the veteran actor.
Informing the Mayor on the preparations towards the funeral, the spokesperson for the family of the late veteran actor, Hon. Tackie Commey, former Member Parliament for Odododiodoo Constituency, said there would be wake keeping on the 26th of April after which he would be buried on the 27th followed by a thanksgiving service on the 28th of April, 2019.
He also informed the Mayor of a book condolence which had been opened to the public at the late actor’s resident in Adabraka.
The Mayor of Accra, Hon. Mohammed Adjei Sowah, who welcomed the delegation to the City Hall described the late actor as a personality worth celebrating in order to honour his legacy.
"It is right for us to celebrate him at all times to honour his contribution to the arts and culture industry,” he said.
Ataa Mensah died on Tuesday, January 15 at the Ridge Hospital in Accra. He was 91 years old. The late Ata Mensah was born on January 12, 1928, in Accra and started his acting career in 1965 and started appearing on TV in 1970.
