New AMA Boss calls on Chief Imam to foster unity, development

The Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, on Friday, May 9, 2025, paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, at his residence in Fadama as part of efforts to foster unity and inclusive development with key stakeholders across the city.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Allotey lauded the Chief Imam’s decades-long leadership and unwavering dedication to peace and interfaith harmony in Ghana.

 He disclosed that the visit was also to formally introduce himself in the capacity as the newly elected Mayor of Accra, as well as to seek the Chief Imam’s blessings and counsel as he embarks on the task of transforming the capital city.

“Our vision for Accra is one of cleanliness, order, and opportunity for all. But to succeed, we must work together across communities, religions, and political lines,” the Mayor stated.

The National Chief Imam, who warmly received the Mayor, commended him for the respectful gesture, describing the visit as a mark of humility, leadership and maturity and offered prayers for wisdom, strength, and guidance in the Mayor’s administration.

He assured Hon. Allotey of the Muslim community's support in advancing peace and sustainable development in the capital.

Mayor Allotey, a seasoned entrepreneur and logistics expert, brings over a decade of experience in the real estate, petroleum, and transportation sectors.

Before his appointment, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of Our God Is Good Real Estate, where he led the delivery of affordable housing units in peri-urban Accra.
