A philanthropist and resident of Accra, Daniel Kwame Abrokwah, has supported the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) with GHȻ 1000 to complement efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
Mr Abrokwah who made the donation at the Accra City Hall on Wednesday explained that he was touched by the assembly's response activities in respect of the COVID-19 pandemic hence the gesture to help curb the spread of the pandemic in the city.
" I have been following the AMA on social media and I saw the way you provided food and supported individuals in the city as well as the numerous initiatives to create awareness especially the wear your mask campaign and thought it wise to support, " he said.
The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah, who received the donation on behalf of the Assembly expressed his appreciation for the gesture noting that such recognition motivates the Assembly to do more.
"I am really touched by your singular gesture since no individual had supported the assembly in this direction, we are very grateful, " he said.
The Assembly since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic had provided handwashing facilities to various markets in the city, distributed 10,000 nose masks as well as uncooked food items to residents, among others.
