AMA begins repair of ripped off school roofs


The reroofing of the Dr. FV Nanka Bruce Junior High, AME Zion Basic and Hijaz Islamic Basic Schools located in Ablekuma South sub metro in Accra has begun. 

The repair works follows the ripping of the schools roof by rainstorm which occurred on 8th July 2019 leaving pupils with nothing than to endure the rays of the sun during sunny days.  

According to the Head of Public Affairs, at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Gilbert Ankrah, the reroofing is expected to be completed within 5 days adding that, all materials had been purchased to ensure the work progresses smoothly.  

He said, the Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah soon after the storm visited the schools as well as other affected buildings within the Ablekuma South sub metro to ascertain the extent of damage.

"Over 4 hundred roofing sheets and over 10 twisted nails as well as other materials had been purchased and deposited at the site", he added .

Communities which fall within the Ablekuma South sub metro include, Mamprobi, Chorkor, Korlegonno and Korle-bu among others.
