AMA inducts 10 new gov't appointees at Special General Assembly after swearing in

Ten newly appointed government appointees have been officially inducted as members of the 8th Assembly of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) following their swearing-in.

The new appointees, comprising six females, were inducted after they took the Oaths of Office and Secrecy administered by a Magistrate Court Judge, Her Worship, Nana Abena Asoh Owusu Omenyo, at a Special General Assembly Meeting held at the Assembly's Omanye Aba Hall on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

They include Helina Yaa Nkrumah, Victoria Wulff, Abdulahi Monnie Mariam, Nuumo Gbelenfo III, Muazu Yussif, Ayuba Issaka, Mariam Naa Akuyea Addy, Paul Arddey Cudjoe, Ernestina Tetteh and Patience Amoonua Bruce Doodu.

In an official letter signed by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Obenewa Akweley Ocloo (MP), the appointments were made pursuant to Section 5(1)(d) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936), which mandates the President of the Republic of Ghana to appoint persons to serve on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies. The appointments took effect from March 27, 2025.

Hon. Ocloo congratulated them on their new roles and reminded them that their conduct would be subject to the Assembly's standing orders and other relevant regulations.

The appointees, representing various professions such as traders, traditional rulers, and business persons, are expected to contribute their expertise toward the realisation of the Assembly’s vision of making Accra a smart and sustainable city.

Present at the ceremony were the Mayor of Accra nominee, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, Assembly members, Heads of department and Sub-metro directors as well as other well-wishers.
