The Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has encouraged residents to take advantage of the upcoming community medical outreach being organised by the Ghana AIDS Commission in partnership with the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Lordina Mahama.

According to him, the initiative, which aligns with the Assembly’s broader goal of promoting public health and improving the well-being of Accra’s citizens, is scheduled to take place on Friday, 4th July 2025, at the forecourt of the Accra City Hall (AMA Head Office) close to the Octagon building, starting from 9:00 a.m.

Speaking after distributing over 500 hot meals to head porters and the underprivileged in the Tudu and Cocoa Marketing Board (CMB) areas of the Central Business District (CBD) to mark the maiden National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, Mayor Allotey said beneficiaries would be screened for HIV, blood pressure, hypertension, blood sugar level, diabetes, eye disorders, Hepatitis B, and malaria, among other diseases.

He explained that the outreach is part of the First Lady’s commitment to extending essential health care services to women, young people and vulnerable groups who often face challenges accessing quality medical care.

“This is not the first time the First Lady has demonstrated remarkable dedication to ensuring that no one is left behind, particularly those in underserved communities,” the Mayor stated.

He noted that the Information Services Department (ISD) unit of the assembly was embarking on public announcements to inform and rally residents ahead of the event.

Mayor Allotey disclosed that the event is expected to attract at least eight hundred (800) participants, adding that the AMA, in collaboration with community leaders and other stakeholders, would coordinate efforts to ensure smooth implementation and maximum participation.
