The Ghana Outstanding Women Awards (GOWA) administration will confer its highest distinction upon Hon. Elizabeth Naa Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey, the Mayor of Accra.
The prestigious honour is scheduled to take place at this year's GOWA event, on September 10 at the Accra International Conference Center.
This celebratory gesture is a tribute to her outstanding leadership since assuming the role of Accra's first female Mayor. Having ascended through the ranks over the years through unwavering commitment and hard work, the organizers of this esteemed event deemed it fit to celebrate the historic achievement of Ghana's inaugural female Mayor of the capital city.
This was disclosed when the CEO of ASKOF Productions Limited, organizers of the award, Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum, and her team, paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of Accra to extend a formal invitation to the awards ceremony.
"This year marks our sixth anniversary, and there couldn't be a more fitting time to honour our Mayor. The theme for this year, 'Encouraging Women to Take Up Leadership Roles,' played a pivotal role in our decision to select Honourable as our distinguished honoree."
She continued, "You undeniably serve as a tremendous source of inspiration to countless individuals, and we eagerly anticipate celebrating you in the unique GOWA fashion on Sunday, September 10. We eagerly await your presence as our special guest, " she said.
The Mayor of Accra, who warmly welcomed the delegation expressed her gratitude to the organizers for the honour.
