The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) under the auspices of the Human Resource Department has held a one-day sensitization workshop on Ghana Integrated Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS) for staff of the Assembly.
The workshop which was held at the Accra City Hall on Friday was targeted at improving and refreshing the knowledge of the staff on the system to enhance the administration of services.
In a brief address, Justice Antwi, Head of the Human Resource Department at the AMA, admonished staff to take advantage of such capacity building programs since it goes along a way to enhance their individual competence.
He added that the benefits of the program include, provision of timely and accurate reporting for the Assembly in the preparation of financial statements and financial reports, improve the quality of baseline for budget preparation, reduces bureaucracy and improves service delivery among others.
A practical session is expected to be held for the staff in two weeks.
GIFMIS was launched in 2009 to enhance public financial management through reliable financial reporting, informed decision making, and reliable planning for national growth.
GIFMIS has 3 components: GIFMIS financial, GIFMIS budget module and the Human Resource Information System (HRMIS).
