12.Jul.2024

The Mayor of Accra, Hon Elizabeth Sackey has admonished candidates writing this year's BECE to maintain discipline and avoid deviant behaviours as they transition out of junior high school(JHS).

Mayor Sackey admonished the candidates when she toured the Kaneshie '1', Mamprobi Sempe, and the 28th February Road/Private Odartey Clusters of Schools, to observe the orderly conduct of the final day of examinations.

Her visit was part of a broader initiative to support and encourage the candidates during this critical phase of their education.

During an interaction with the students, Mayor Sackey commended their hard work and perseverance throughout the years.

"Completing your BECE is a significant achievement, and I am proud of each one of you. As you move on to the next stage of your education, remember to uphold the values of discipline, and integrity and eschew all forms of deviant behaviour during your stay at home "she said.

The Mayor emphasised the importance of making positive choices post-examination, warning against succumbing to negative influences.

"The period after school can be a time of great freedom, but it is crucial to use this time wisely. Avoid behaviours that can derail your future, and focus on activities that build your skills and character," she advised.

She expressed her satisfaction with the smooth organisation of the exams, attributing it to the diligent efforts of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the examination supervisors.

Mayor Sackey highlighted the importance of education in the development of the city and the nation at large.

"Education is the backbone of our society, and we must invest in our future leaders. We will continue to support initiatives that promote quality education and create opportunities for our youth," she said.
