AMA Holds Maiden Festival of 9 Lessons and Carols Night


The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has held its maiden festival of nine lessons and carols night with a call on city dwellers to shun all negative tendencies and be responsible towards the environment.

The service held at the Omanye Aba Hall of the Assembly's new office complex, treated the audience to a melodious night of carols spiced with the usual nine passages from some stakeholders and staff of the Assembly including the Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Adjei Sowah.

The Tema  Philharmonic Choir,  led praises and sang popular Christmas carols including  Hallelujah Chorus , Ding Dong Merrily on High , O Come All Ye Faithful,  Holy Night, Yeye Shane Basa,  Afe ako aprow,  in addition to  James Varrick Armaah's  "Oye", popularly known  as Asɛm Papa Bi a Mate, which kept everyone including the Mayor on their feet dancing.

Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah , in a remark envisioned the coming year  to be aggressive and urged staff and Assemblymen to be productive  and take leadership respectively in order  to transform the city.

"Despite the challenges, it’s been a successful year, the coming year will be an aggressive and an action one," he said adding that changing the image of the city was a collective responsibility.

He noted that, despite the creation of new assemblies, cash flow issues among others challenges the year ended well and thanked all stakeholders for their various contributions towards the successes chalk over the period.

He took the opportunity to assure staff of the Assembly of better days in the coming year noting that he appreciates the challenges and concerns and is working hard to turn things around.

Apostle Emmanuel Ablorh who shared a word of exhortation challenged all to eschew all manner of darkness (negative tendencies) in order to engender development and averred that although the festive season signifies the birth of Jesus Christ, it should be a time to reflect on the important things.

The service was  graced by personalities such as  Nii Danso a representative from the Cheyenne Wyoming sister city , chiefs from the GA Traditional Area, Market Queens as well as the Chief Executive of Coastal Development Authority, Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shiab.
