The Metro Chief Executive (MCE) of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Dr. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije together with some officials have visited some schools in Accra to interact with pupils to mark my 1st day at school.

The Mayor visited kindergarten sections of schools such as Richard Akwei Memorial School, located at Aayalolo, Korlegonno Millennium City School,Odorkor 1 and 2 millennium city school, located at Darkuman Kokompe and Salvation Army Cluster Of Schools,Laterbiokoshie.

As part of the AMA’s vision to enhance quality education not only through the provision of infrastructure the MCE shared exercise books, pencils, color books and snacks to the children who were present at school on the first day to serve as incentives intended to boost their interest in education.

According to him, the introduction of this exercise which is done at the beginning of every academic year across the country was organized by the AMA to encourage school children to be punctual at school and also help in sensitizing parents about their roles to their children’s education.

The Mayor advised the children to study hard and also urged them to be respectful to everyone especially their teachers.

“These gifts are to encourage you but the greatest gifts you will ever get in this world is education”, he averred.

He added that six (6) millennium schools would be commissioned from now to October ending and also mentioned that he was very happy about the number of children that reported to school on the first day.
